LEARNING CHALLENGES
What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder with a neurobiological basis, affecting the brain's ability to process written and spoken language. It is characterized by difficulties with decoding words, reading fluently, and spelling, despite having normal intelligence and adequate instruction. This condition arises from atypical neural development in areas involved in language processing. Early intervention and targeted, evidence-based strategies are essential for effective support.
What is Dysgraphia?
Dysgraphia is a neurological condition that impairs the ability to produce written language. It involves difficulties with handwriting, spelling, and organizing written expression due to underlying issues with motor skills and cognitive processing. This condition is linked to atypical brain function in areas responsible for fine motor control and language processing. Effective intervention often includes strategies to support writing skills and address motor coordination challenges.
What is Dyscalculia?
Dyscalculia is a specific learning disorder that affects the ability to understand and manipulate numbers and mathematical concepts. Individuals with dyscalculia struggle with tasks such as number recognition, calculation, and spatial reasoning, despite having normal intelligence and adequate instruction. This condition stems from differences in brain areas involved in numerical processing and mathematical reasoning. Early diagnosis and targeted interventions are crucial for improving mathematical skills and overall academic performance.
At IntellectConnect Tutoring, we excel in supporting students with learning complications such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ADHD, and related challenges. Our team includes educators with both personal experience and advanced training in these areas, providing a deep understanding of each student's unique needs. While we do not diagnose learning disorders—leaving that to physicians and healthcare providers—we focus on delivering targeted, evidence-based interventions through personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions. With proper permissions, we collaborate closely with teachers and physicians to tailor our sessions to best meet each student's and family's needs. Please note, we currently do not accept insurance. Our mission is to empower students with customized strategies and expert guidance.
